Goodbye Nana

Today I lost on of the most amazing people in my life. The most amazing women I knew. She was kind, selfless, passionate, caring and so much more. I learned so much from her. It's because of her and my papa I have a relationship with God they payed for camp year after year and brought me to church whenever I was on the island. My nana showed God's love in every thing she said or did. She demonstrated how to be a good mother grandmother friend and someday wife. She was a perfect example of how healthy relationship could be. She always believed in me, she was ALWAYS proud. She was the best grandma I ever could have asked for.

She gave so much to everyone in her world. She knit for the homeless, delivered meals on wheels for the elderly and sick, knit blankets for single pregnant mom's, had several people she sewed into. There was nothing my Nana didn't do. It still doesn't feel like she's really gone. She was so healthy. She walked for 45 minutes everyday. There weren't any signs no one saw it coming. I can't picture going to the island and her not being there. But I know she's in a better place. I just wanna be on the island with my family.

90's kid

Okay so on sunday I sat reminisced about the great 90's that I grew up in with my two best friends. So here are some of MY favourite songs, shows, things or whatever from my childhood.

there's a car in the kitchen!

I LOVED THIS SONG. or well this band. I listened to them day and night all the time.

I was actually THE biggest S club fan. Okay i'll stop, I think that was a enough of a blast from the past. I know have an entirely awesome playlist on my computer!!

I know my god is bigger.

Seriously been the weirdest week eveer. It's been full of highs and lows and honestly just all over the place. First off, locked my keys in the car, then my wallet was stolen, two horrible allergy attacks. BUT then a few of the most amazing things happened. I won an award and a 750 dollar scholarship, and got to spend quality time with my two best friends that are still here for the first time in a long time, I get to be apart of the most amazing ministry team ever with such big callings on their lives and they value me and my idea's as well, so many old faces back at wildfire this week, AND my brother came to wildfire.

Satan is undeniably trying to break me down. I've definitely been feeling spiritual opposition. And I definitely know why. Conference is coming up, and I KNOW God is going to do something huge. Like amazing in the hearts of our youth current past and in-between. And God's just saying, "Look these victories are bigger than you're defeats, satan's got nothing on you. And these victories are only just the beginning and so small in hind-sight of what i'm up to, just you wait."

I actually LOVE when I feel satan's opposition. It makes me excited. Like christmas eve as a child excited. Because I know know know in my heart that God is prepared to do something huge. I'm so ready to take it on. I'm so pumped. I was obviously excited for conference but it wasn't until this weekend that my heart set, spot on on fire for it.

So hey devil, when you attack me know it means NOTHING, because I KNOW God has already WON this battle. So try and tear me down as much as possible.

BRING IT!

Hello, my name is Nicole and i'm a concert addict.\

This is the truth. I love live music. I'm a glutton for a good concert. This last week I had the privilege of attending City and Colour. Man it was a good concert. Probably the best I have seen Vocally. I mean every concert I see is different and are totally not that comparable cause each band definitely comes with there own unique atmosphere, most of the time. But man, Dallas Green could come sing me to sleep anyway….and not in the creepy way. Amazing set list, venue and well everything. I love that he can just let his voice shine through his music, he doesn't need anything snazzy besides his lyrics.

Now, i'm going to fill you in on the other side of this night. Many a humorous things happened during before after whenever.

First..I dropped my phone under the seat below and in front of me and in attempt to retrieve it i asked my friend if I could borrow her phone for the light, henceforth dropping her phone along right beside it. Then after a bunch of bumping people with my head and feet and elbows etc. We ended up just asking the people in front of us to grab it after the opener.

Secondly. The opener. Man great music and I forget there name but I must find out. But my these were an odd group of a band. The guy I believe had his iPhone on stage during there set. The lead was wearing the oddest attire. The most oddest of there performance was there closing song, which was called "Give all your money away" where during the song the lead singer did just that. He just pulled out his wallet and started throwing money into the crowd. I thought to myself, seriously, he's throwing money away. It was kinda cool, corny, weird, wonderful, interesting, and entertaining all at once.

Well i'm not going to bore you with stories about my night as they're probably those "you had to be there moments" as I have found out when telling the stories to those who weren't in attendance. So if you would like to know just ask me. And chances are if you know me personally i probably will have told you already or sometime during this coming week.

(I believe this was actually taken at the concert i attended. This was the apparel he was wearing. And it was posted morning after I attended the show)

Tale as old as time

This evening i went and saw a childhood favourite of mine appear 3D on the big screen with one of my best friends. I love how disney is redoing there old movies that I grew up on in 3D.

It was amazing sitting in a theatre mixed with my generation (and older) and the new. Hearing my generation quietly singing along with the song, as well as seeing/hearing the reactions of children.

My two favourite occurrences happened consecutively. First was the first sight of Belle in her infamous yellow ball gown. You could hear the gasps/sighs of all the little girls. It was adorable. The second was when during the same scene it shows the ceiling and there happen to be nude angels painted on the ceiling. The little boy in front of my squealed , "I see there bum." Just as any little boy would do.

I soaked up every minute of it. I kinda wanna go see it a second time. I do have to remember I own the movie on VHS.

Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bitter sweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong
Certain as the sun
Rising in the east

Art.

I was looking online for some art to inspire me for a painting i'm working on. The piece i'm working on is just to blah to me right now. It's lacking creativity, and I need to find a way to make it unique and not just ordinary. Here are some pieces i stumbled upon that I LOVED!

Ps.. none of these are my works, I found them all on weheartit.com

Check him out.

So there's this awesome artist my brother introduced my too. His name is Macklemore. I'm very picky about the rap I like, like really picky. But this guy sings about real stuff seldom swears or uses anything to degrade women (at least in these two songs) which is usually what rap is now a days, that's why it's not as appreciated as it could be. Listen to the lyrics, it's good stuff. And he's from Seattle, just a hop skip and a jump to the south of us.

A little inspiration..

These are just some spaces I found while surfing for some inspiration. Guess what, I found some.

First I just wanna talk about this space. OH MY GOODNESS, is about all i can say. It's not the furniture or the flowers that makes the space great. If you take away all of that the room still looks the same, you still see the actual design of the room. Now THAT is what Interior design is. A space has met it's purpose when you can take away all of it's 'makeup' and still see the beauty and the design that it's supposed to convey. This is what inspires me. You don't need all the stuff to ritz it up, it does it for it's self. Which is amazing

Now you can admire these spaces and even quirky and cool ideas.

This would be great for a kids room.

Kinda just wanna read a book here all day.

See if you take everything out you still get that homey, country spacious feel. The furniture should not determine the feel of the room it should only add to it.

I'm kinda just in love with libraries.

I just love this idea for a bed frame. The mirror is so elegant.

I Love my life :)

Tonight I got to sit down with my best friend who I am so blessed to do life with. Share my visions, my dreams, my triumphs and my struggles with. And even the stuff that doesn't even matter you just wanna tell someone stuff.

Anyway, I am so lucky to do life group with someone as awesome as her!

So tonight we sat down caught up since it's literally been forever and then planned out the next 7 weeks of life group up to conference and then after conference.

I'm pumped, we have never put this much planning into this long of a period for life group before and it's already paying off. I can already see the victories. You can't make something happen with out planning and determination.

Excited for what 2012 has to bring.

My word

This year at life women conference we were told to choose a word. A word to outline your year. A word to life you're year by.

Well it's now 2012 so time to choose a word.

Okay, so I guess you wanna know my word.

COMMIT
 Now that's committing

Yeaup, that's it. Now I have to explain the context of the word. I don't mean say commit to everything that get's asked of me, nor get in a committed relationship…. well wait, I will get in a committed relationship, but right now only with God, well because unfortunately there are no love interests in my life, but honestly i'm fine with that. Enough with the run on sentences.

What I mean by COMMIT is fully see things through. If i'm gonna do something i'm in it, i'm there, i'm all in, gonna live it to it's fullest, go until there's no gas in the tank for it.

I am REALLY good committing fully to only a few things and just half heartedly fulfilling the others. If I wanna see growth and victories in 2012 I can't just let most things in life happen to me. I wanna actively be apart in the events in my life. Now the challenge for myself with this word it the word control. I do not mean control. I want to do all I can do in any situation, not have it my way. And to fully commit, I first have to commit to the one who has committed EVERYTHING to me, Jesus. I have no chance in committing to the other things in my life fully if i don't first commit myself to God. Or else i'm just gonna get tired out.

Now, i'm not going to be perfect at it. I admit it. I'm a perfectionist, so admitting it is the first step right? Or that's what the "experts" say. I shall try my darndest and i'm going to COMMIT to not beating myself up if I don't always follow through. As I stated previously this word theory is so I can go, i'm never gonna be perfect at it from the start or else I wouldn't have it as my word.

commit

YES, the party's rocking YES and there ain't no stopping.

I ALMOST FORGOT!

I got my grades for the semester back last week.
Drumroll please….
I got THREE A+ and one A-

WOOOOOOOOOOOO

I think i'm allowed to brag :P
Next semester i'm aiming for all A+

This put's me at a 4.2 GPA for the semester.
And brought up my uni career GPA from 2.96 to 3.47 :)
My goal is a 4.0 for when I do my interview for my program.
They're gonna have no choice but to let me in.

2012

2012
Well we're here. It feels so futuristic.

But I totally believe God is going to do BIG things in 2012.

Now i'm not one for "New Years Resolutions"
but i've been putting off a lot of things and it's my responsibility to be the best me I can be!
So here is goes. A lot of them are silly and small but important.

This is my list of what i want to accomplish in 2012

1) Get into my program
2) Stop biting my nails
3) Get into some sort of workout routine because I do not feel healthy and i'm not. Frequent and routine exercise = more energy and clearer mind.
4) Read my bible more. (Not a precise goal meaning I won't finish it. I'm gonna lay out a plan, or it won't happen)
5) Read more. Every day on the bus.
6) Finish 4 more pieces of art work for my portfolio
7) Find a new job
8) Fully learn standard and drive my baby :)

hmm, that all for now. At least the surface material stuff.

It's gonna be a good year. 2012 is totally what I make it, and if none of these happen this year is still going to be the best.

These are some pictures I found on we heart it that DO go along with what I want to do this year.

I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

The wonderful, lovely, most awesomest lady is back in Canada for the holidays.
One of my best friend LETITIA! It's unbelievable to have her back.

I think i've spent more time with her than any other the other two. Which is fine by me muhahaha. It's been so good to catch up. And when I say catch up, I mean really have heart to hearts instead of the wishy washy: "Hey how's it going." "Good I was frustrated with work today" "Oh Sucks, tomorrow's another day."

I mean hear dreams, share sorrows, shed tears of both happiness and heartache.

We were all standing in church this Sunday all side by side. I remember when that was normal. It was an everyday thing.

We take those we have in our lives for granted. I know I do on a daily basis, no matter how hard I try not to. No matter how much I try and cherish the little things, they're so easy to forget. You don't know what the little things are until you don't get to do them anymore.

But this holiday has been superb. The ONLY thing that could have made it better was if our 5th member returned to us. Channel :( One day the 5 of us will be together again just like old times. I miss the 5 of us. But i'm grateful for the time I have now.

I've been thinking a lot of the time lately. Man, I don't have enough time for all the things I want to accomplish. God definitely made a day 24 hours for a reason, he made the time we have on earth brief for a certain reason. We have to manage our time wisely. Spend our time in the most appropriate and useful way. I think the phrase, or terminology of "spending our time" is intriguing. It's a weird thought that we can SPEND our time kinda like we can spend money. There is way more value to the way you can spend you're time than the way you spend you're money. Money can do ALL sorts of things, and yes it's a wonderful thing, it provides for you and for others. But when we reach our last day, it's not going to be all about what money you spent where, even if you gave most of you're money away. God is going to look more at what you did with the TIME he gave you on earth.

Well I wasn't exactly sure where that was going and I got lost a time or two on the way. But I hope I spend my time wisely. It is definitely one thing i struggle with and am making a better attempt with in the new year.

Inspiration Accounted for.

Now that i'm into my second actual post i've realized how much i've MISSED this. Blogging is my creative outlet where I can just poor out my thoughts, what inspires me, my ideas. When I keep it up in my head I loose it, there's too much jumbling around out there. It also keeps my writing from rusting up.

I've missed meandering around looking for pictures, ideas, things to blog about. Getting swept up in inspiration and letting my idea's take their own form.

Blogging keeps me accountable to to the things I want to accomplish. So you shall here more from me...because to tell the trust these last few months I have felt ANYTHING but creative in the way i want to. I honestly haven't felt creatively inspired in a while. I've created things...and been inspired. But it's not the same. If that makes any sense whatsoever.

So anyways. I'M BACK YO!

KNITTING!

I'm obsessed. I started about two months ago. I love it. There's nothing like the feeling of accomplishment. And seriously, have you not seen any of my previous posts, I LOVE KNITS, SCARVES, MITTENS, WINTER, and anything COZY! So I shouldn't be so surprised I love it so much.

It's cheap and not that time consuming. So if you have the chance you should try it. Seriously you'll get hooked.....(get it because you use a crochet hook to crochet)....(which i have yet to learn how to do. but honestly, i think knitting looks nicer than crocheting)

This is pretty much me.....ALL the time :S
 I LOVE this idea.
I NEED NEED to find yarn like this.

This is my next project after my tube neck scarf.
Maybe just a little looser. I'm glad I found a picture of it, now I can put a visual to the idea.
Kinda working on something of this likes right now.
This is also the next plan. Such an awesome idea.
I'm not weird or anything i promise...But for the semester i'm bringing a tea cup to school.
Not lying.
I'm a tea granny.

Wow....I'm an old lady... I love tea and knitting.. yikes. I better not start growing white hair and thinking the world is flat or anything :S
